Scope of work:
The role involves maintaining the building, equipment, and grounds, ensuring all systems are in proper working order. Responsible for performing repairs, preventative maintenance, and assisting facility management across various departments. This includes maintaining safety systems, managing outdoor grounds, and addressing equipment issues promptly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain building, equipment, and grounds, performing minor repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Clean light fixtures, replace bulbs/tubes, and paint interior/exterior surfaces as needed.
- Maintain HVAC systems, boilers, pumps, and control panels; monitor and adjust building controls.
- Maintain outdoor areas, including snow/ice removal, weed control, and debris removal.
- Operate and maintain grounds-keeping equipment.
- Maintain fire alarms, extinguishers, and other safety systems; ensure entrances and exits remain accessible.
- Perform preventative maintenance on alarms and monitor emergency generators.
- Troubleshoot and repair plumbing fixtures and perform carpentry tasks.
- Assist departments with facility maintenance and coordinate with service providers for major repairs.
- Set up rooms for meetings and events, assisting with cleanup afterward.
Qualifications:
- Journeyperson certification preferred, but a certificate in a Mechanical trade will be considered.
- Knowledge of building maintenance include, but not limited to working within a HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry environment.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools, meters, and grounds-keeping equipment.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and use of safety equipment (e.g., steel-toe boots, safety goggles).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work with trade-related hazards
Hours worked:
Hours may vary depending on the needs of the facility. Working hours will include rotating day shifts and weekends. Snow removal may be required during the evenings and nights.
