Description
OceanView Family Practice & Lifestyle Medicine is seeking an organized, personable Medical Office Secretary to support a single-physician family practice. This is a great fit for someone who enjoys variety, values patient care, and wants to be part of a practice active in community health promotion.
Position: Full-time, permanent
Start date: As soon as possible
Hours: 25–40 hours/week, with some flexibility
Location: In-office; North Sydney Hospital, occasional work-from-home possible on days the physician is not in clinic
Compensation: Based on experience. Health insurance benefits available after a 6-month probationary period.
Responsibilities:
• Answering phones and returning patient messages promptly
• Booking and managing appointments
• Sending faxes and scanning documents into the electronic medical record (Accuro EMR)
• Maintaining organized, confidential patient records
• Supporting the practice's lifestyle medicine programming — helping organize, promote, and recruit participants for our monthly Walk With A Doc, mindfulness meditation sessions, cooking classes, and 8-week exercise programs
Requirements:
• Strong computer literacy; experience with Accuro EMR an asset but not required
• Medical Office Administration certification an asset, but not required
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a busy office
• Responsible, trustworthy, and committed to patient confidentiality
• Strong interpersonal skills with empathy for patients navigating difficult times
• Comfortable with community outreach and event promotion
