Cape Breton University (CBU) is seeking a Regional Manager of In.Business for Unama’ki College. This is a full-time, limited-term position for approximately one year, with the possibility of renewal.

The successful candidate will collaborate with the Director, Business Operations, to focus on high school student recruitment and encourage the study of business and related disciplines through the delivery of the established In.Business mentorship program.

Worksite will include CBU’s Membertou Office.

The successful candidate will:

·         Executing strategic objectives and initiatives, including:

o   identifying and recruiting Indigenous high school students.

o   identifying and recruiting of Indigenous business mentors.

o   establishing and maintaining key contacts; and

o   identifying funding and other opportunities that benefit Unama’ki College.

·         Establishing and maintaining productive partner, community, and stakeholder relationships, including collaboration with internal CBU schools and departments.

·         Plan, coordinate, host a maximum of two conferences per year.

·         Developing and maintaining a regional budget.

·         Track project activities, timelines, deliverables, and outcomes to support successful program execution.

·         Coordinate logistics related to meetings, events, travel, program activities, and operational requirements.

·         Prepare and maintain reports, updates, and program documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

·         Provide administrative and operational support, including scheduling, correspondence, and document management.

·         Assist and support team members with ongoing initiatives, collaborative projects, and day-to-day operations.

The ideal candidate will require: 

·    A Master’s Degree is preferred, but candidates with a Bachelor’s degree with extensive, demonstrated experience may be considered. Discipline areas of Business, Regional, and Community Economic Development and/or Education are preferred;

·         Knowledge of Indigenous communities and experience working with and in communities is essential;

·         Demonstrated capacity for proposal writing, administrative support, and reporting are essential;

·         Demonstrated capacity for organization with attention to detail in a multi-task environment is required;

·         A self-starter with a strong work ethic and able to work well with other disciplines is essential;

·         Effective relationship management, strong verbal and written communication, and presentation skills are required;

·         A demonstrated ability to deliver major collaborative partnerships with external partners in a timely and professional manner, including execution of multiple short- and long-term projects simultaneously;

·         Proficiency with word processing, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentation development;

·         Willingness and ability to travel;

·         Mi’kmaq language is considered a valued asset.
