The Organization:
Tajikeimɨk is the new and developing health and wellness organization leading Health Transformation on behalf of Mi’kmaw communities in Nova Scotia. In collaboration with Chiefs, Grand Council, and Health Directors, Tajikeimɨk will build on and evolve the health and wellness services and programs used by Mi’kmaw people in Nova Scotia; improve health service delivery; and strengthen coordination with Federal and Provincial health system partners—with the goal of improving overall health for Mi’kmaq and communities.

Position Overview:
Working in collaboration with Tajikeimɨk
team members as part of the Health Transformation journey the Executive
Director is responsible for providing strategic leadership and overall operational
direction to Tajikeimik, guiding the organization toward the successful
achievement of Health Transformation. This role ensures strong organizational
performance, financial sustainability, and effective relationships with key partners,
while fostering a culture grounded in accountability,
collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Tajikeimɨk’s
Board and works closely with the Board of Directors to translate strategic priorities into clear, actionable plans. They ensure the organization operates efficiently, meets all regulatory and governance requirements, and consistently delivers high-quality outcomes that advance the health and wellbeing of Mi’kmaq in Nova Scotia.
What you’ll do:
As Executive Director, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to advance Mi’kmaw health and wellness and guide the organization through an important period of Health Transformation. In this role, you will:
- Lead Tajikeimɨk’s overall strategy and direction, translating vision and Board of Director priorities into clear plans and results.
- Guide the Health Transformation journey, including service planning, systems change, and transition activities that reflect community priorities.
- Partner closely with the Board of Directors to support strong governance, accountability, and informed decision‑making.
- Ensure financial stewardship and long‑term sustainability through effective planning, oversight, and resource management.
- Oversee organizational operations, people, and infrastructure to support effective, culturally grounded service delivery.
- Build and support a strong leadership team and a positive, inclusive, high‑performing organizational culture.
- Strengthen partnerships and represent Tajikeimɨk in community, intergovernmental, and sector‑based forums.
- Champion meaningful community engagement, transparency, and accountability to Mi’kmaw communities.
- Promote data‑informed decision‑making, evaluation, and continuous improvement aligned with Mi’kmaq data sovereignty.

Your qualifications:
- Minimum of a graduate degree in a Health, Social Science or Management field (or other related area of study).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior health leadership role or 10 years of progressive health leadership experience.
- Deep knowledge of Mi'kmaw communities’ health and wellness strengths and challenges.
- Strong understanding of provincial and federal health systems, policies, programs and strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives with multiple deliverables and timelines.
- Proven experience building consensus around a shared vision and developing proposals or plans that translate that vision into action.
- Strong track record of building and leading high-performing teams of staff, consultants, and partners to achieve organizational objectives
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout Nova Scotia.
- An up-to-date Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.
Salary: Compensation will be discussed with shortlisted candidates and is commensurate with experience, qualifications, market benchmarks and internal equity.
Preference will be given to Mi’kmaw applicants.
