L’Arche Cape Breton is seeking a Program Leader at the Sunflower Garden Program.  The Program Leader within L’Arche is responsible for the overall integration of the L’Arche Identity and Mission and Servant Leadership Model in the day-to-day work of the program, while planning and overseeing high quality programming and support for each person with a developmental disability, and the supervision, support, training, and formation of all assistants in the program.  The Program Leader is an effective member of the team leaders’ group in the community, the leader of the program team and an active member of our L’Arche Cape Breton community.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities: 

·       Develop a positive, supportive and mutual relationship with community members through sharing daily life together, which respects their history, choices, goals and needs.

·       Collaborate with team members to ensure that the physical, emotional, spiritual, vocational, recreational, health and safety needs of community members are met while maximizing their choices and participation in the decisions affecting their lives.

·       Help members of the program fulfill the mission of the community and the specific mandate of the program.

 

Qualities of a Successful Applicant:

·       Enthusiasm for spending time outside and leading program in gardening jobs and other physical activities as needed.

·       Experience with and knowledge of gardening considered an asset.

·       To understand and model L’Arche core values while engaging in all responsibilities associated with their role. 

·       Ability to be flexible and manage the challenge of multi-faceted responsibilities and relationships.

·       Ability to remain calm, focused and clear in times of crisis.

·       Ability to be collaborative, think creatively, take direction and follow-through on commitments in a timely fashion.

·       Open to learn and grow; able to give and receive feedback.

·       Ability to directly address tensions in relationships.
