Northside Community Pool is Seeking New Board Members
The Northside Community Pool is looking for dedicated volunteers to join our Board of Directors, starting this Spring. Deadline for applications: April 10th, 2026
Are you interested in being an active and engaged member of our community? We are seeking individuals who share our passion for local non-profits, community recreation, and the essential aquatic programming we provide to Northside families. We welcome you to apply to serve on our Board of Directors.
We welcome all interested applicants, we are specifically seeking individuals with backgrounds in:
● Finance, Accounting & Business: Focused on oversight of the annual operating budget and fiscal sustainability. We are seeking expertise in budgeting, financial reporting, and general business management.
● Marketing & Strategic Communications: Focused on providing high-level guidance to staff regarding brand positioning and community engagement. Ideal skills include public relations, promotions, or advertising.
● Legal & Governance: Focused on advising on non-profit bylaws, risk management, and policy. We are seeking legal professionals with experience in contracts, service-level agreements, and liability.
● Education & Youth Advocacy: Focused on strengthening ties with local schools and enhancing youth instructional frameworks. This role is ideal for Teachers or School Administrators passionate about Northside families.

Joining the Board of Directors is a chance to play a direct role in ensuring the Northside Community Pool remains a sustainable, safe, and accessible space for our region. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your professional skills to a meaningful local cause.
While the Board acts as a professional sounding board for management and does not engage in day-to-day operations, we operate as a "working board." This means members are expected to contribute their specific expertise to sub-committees or volunteer projects that support the organization’s health.
To be considered for a seat on the Board, candidates should meet the following criteria:
● Local Connection: You are a resident of Cape Breton (a deep connection to the Northside is considered a strong asset).
● Reliable Participation: You are willing and able to commit to 12 monthly meetings per year (remote attendance can be accommodated as needed).
● Active Contribution: You possess an eagerness to participate beyond the boardroom, carrying out volunteer duties or joining sub-committees to assist the organization.
● Mission Alignment: You share a genuine commitment to enriching our community by providing inclusive, high-quality, and safe aquatic recreation programming.
Board Composition
We welcome applicants from diverse professional and demographic backgrounds. Our ideal candidate will possess skills in one of the following: Finance, Communications, Marketing, Legal, Governance, Education. Our current board contains professionals with skills in finance, business, education, fundraising, human resources and health.
