Job Overview:

Cleanwave Restaurant is seeking seasonal line cooks in both fulltime and parttime roles. Applicants must be available to work Sunday through Saturday during the peak season (May-October). Under the direction of the CleanWave Restaurant Manager, Line Cooks will prepare ingredients, cook and plate dishes and work collaboratively with the other CleanWave back and front of house team. Line Cooks will be expected to maintain a clean, well-stocked and safe workstation that optimizes the execution of food preparation.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Line cook responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing restaurant customers with an impeccable dining experience.
  • Ensuring food safety through proper handling and preparation.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.
  • Preparing ingredients and aspects of different dishes on the menu.
  • Setting up and restocking food station and kitchen items, as required.
  • Providing take-out order support, as required.
  • Performing opening, closing and other assigned side duties.
  • Following health and safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Participating in training and safety programs.
  • Communicating and cooperating with the kitchen team.
  • Adhering to all policies and procedures of the CleanWave and Wagmatcook First Nation.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Educational background in culinary arts, related field, or equivalent work experience, an asset.
  • One (1) to two (2) years of previous experience, preferred.
  • Experience in safety procedures and standards.
  • Food Handler Certification, an asset.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Accuracy and speed in executing multiple tasks.
  • Familiarity with Nova Scotia’s Food Safety Regulations.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work a variety of shifts.
  • Must be available for day shifts.
  • Must be available for weekend shifts.

 

Work Conditions:

  • Location & Hours: onsite, must be available to work seven (7) days per week, shift work.
  • Physical: lifting up to 50lbs., standing, crouching, lifting, repetitive motions.            
  • Environmental: indoors, exposure to noise, hot surfaces and equipment, cleaning chemicals.
